E-Safety Curriculum

Project EVOLVE                                                           E-Safety Crew

At Butterwick CE Primary School we use ‘Project Evolve’ as our E-Safety scheme of work.

It is based on “Education for a Connected World” (EFACW) that covers knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes across eight strands of our online lives from Early Years to Year 6. These outcomes or competencies are mapped to age and are progressive.

The eight strands for learning are:

  • Self-Image and Identity
  • Online Relationships
  • Online Reputation
  • Online Bullying
  • Managing Online Information
  • Health, Well-being and Lifestyle
  • Privacy and Security
  • Copyright and Ownership

The philosophy behind the project is to “evolve” the online safety messages that children are being taught into something that is appropriate; meaningful; encourage reflection; and generates positive outcomes.

There are opportunities for discussion; prompted by appropriate questions accompanied by honest and useful information to shape thinking and challenge misconceptions.
